Bedding experts use IHS to announce new name and range expansion

The speed and significance of innovation happening within bedding for the hospitality industry was demonstrated in abundance on The Fine Bedding Company’s stand at this year’s Independent Hotel Show, held at London’s Olympia on 18th and 19th October.

As one of the fastest growing suppliers of duvets, pillows and mattress protectors and toppers to the hotel and hospitality sector, The Fine Bedding Company’s impressive showcase on stand 221 was its most comprehensive yet, with the team using this year’s show to announce a number of exciting changes to ways it is tailoring its service and innovating its product range to meet the ever-varying needs of the hospitality sector.

The company, which is backed by more than 100 years of manufacturing capability, firstly announced that it is changing its name from ‘hotel’ division to The Fine Bedding Company Hospitality division, to reflect its expansion within the sector.

The show was also a chance for customers to meet new members of the team, including national sales manager Daniel Fido, who joined earlier this year, and Sara Nolan, hospitality groups sales manager.

Another exciting announcement from The Fine Bedding Company was the introduction of Nimbus Emporium to its portfolio, which caters for all size and type of customer within the hospitality sector. Nimbus Emporium is a new collection of uber luxury down and feather-filled duvets, pillows and mattress toppers. Significantly, with the traceability of products procured by hotels and guest houses being of increasing importance to guests, a major advantage of the new brand is that it is one of the first in the UK to carry the prestigious Downpass Seal, certifying that products are fully traceable and no live plucking has taken place in the production process.

Also on show was The Fine Bedding Company Hospitality division’s collection of Smartfil® and washable bedding, which in the past 12 months has been specified by establishments including upscale InterContinental London – The O2, The Culpeper London and The 25 Boutique bed and breakfast in Devon.

Visitors were able to see for themselves that even after 20 washes at 60oC The Fine Bedding Company’s products still plump like new and had retained their silky soft feel.

Its Finest Luxury Cotton collection which was launched at the show, offers hoteliers the balance of ease and luxury of synthetic with the LOOK, FEEL & WARMTH of natural goose down for an indulgent experience, whilst withstanding the demands of commercial environments.  Its revolutionary ThermaAir dual layer construction design that traps more air between the unique layers, giving the duvet extra warmth and lightness was particularly well received by visitors to the stand.

Equally popular this year was its dual layer mattress topper that balances comfort and practicality. The zip feature allows the two separate layers to be washed in both domestic and commercial washing machines, without losing quality or shape, ideal for saving on costly laundering bills.

Daniel Fido, national sales manager for The Fine Bedding Company Hospitality Division, said: “It’s been a phenomenal year for The Fine Bedding Company with us winning a number of new contracts, supplying bespoke solutions to some of the most prestigious hotel projects across the UK and Europe and fast gaining a strong reputation as innovators in the market, developing long lasting and quality products. As a result, we’ve enjoyed rolling revenue growth of 97%.

“In the coming months we are looking to supply our products beyond hotels and guest houses, looking at cruise liners and airlines; hence our new name that will encompass our customer base in the coming year.”

Daniel continued: “While there is huge demand for our luxury washable Spundown, Boutique Silk and Finest Luxury Cotton ranges, which deliver huge cost savings in terms of in-house laundering and room turnaround time, we have had a high number of requests for feather and down bedding to be supplied alongside our synthetics – where natural fill remains synonymous with uber luxury and quality.

“We have responded with the Nimbus Emporium collection, which includes three levels of products, grouped Gold, Silver and Bronze, to cater for the breadth of establishments within the sector.

“Nimbus stands for natural quality – pure and simple and it sets new standards in all-natural luxury bedding. We are meticulous in our selection of the finest quality raw materials and traditional in our methods. This is coupled with a refined attention to detail, products that boast a pure cotton cover, invisible stitching, premium piping and boxed/pocketed construction.”

Commenting on trends in the sector as a whole, Daniel said: “Bedding in the hospitality industry is increasingly about marrying the luxurious feel of a product and cost efficiencies in terms of laundering, and our range of synthetic bedding caters for this completely. Washing at high temperatures (60°) doesn’t compromise our product quality wash after wash and means that our range is hypo-allergenic, practical and functional. I am confident that we are exceeding the industry standard and the needs of customers.

“In part this is down to our unique next generation fibre technology, Smartfil®. Smartfil® fibres offer superior thermal performance and maximum air flow while ensuring guests keep warm and comfortable as they sleep. Smartfil®‘s superior ability to reform and revive its shape also ensures maximum durability of the bedding.

“Not only can it be washed on-site but as this range is also ultra-light it ensures faster room turnover and quick drying so freshly laundered duvets can be returned to a bed within a matter of hours.”

Daniel concluded: “New product development is
a continual process. We are committed to continuously offering technically superior products and to remain at the cutting edge of comfort.

“Our latest manufacturing innovation is SonicSeam® – a unique automatic thread-less stitch finishing that uses high frequency sound to change the structure of fabrics to bond the edges together. Benefits include a consistent seam with greater product reliability and quality, with fewer thread breaks and greater product size flexibility.”
