Leading luxury tea company comes to Sainsbury’s for the first time, offering premium tea at an affordable price

Leading luxury tea company, Newby Teas, is set to launch nationwide in one of the UK’s largest supermarkets, Sainsbury’s. A selection of eight of Newby Teas speciality tea blends will be available exclusively in selected Sainsbury’s stores nationwide – starting 30 July 2017.

Sainsbury’s will be the first supermarket to offer the speciality teas from Newby’s Classic Tea Bag Collection – created to provide easy-to-prepare, affordable luxury tea to all. Sainsbury’s customers will have a selection of eight blends to choose from; four black teas, one oolong tea, two green teas and one Rooibos tisane. Each box of tea contains 25 individually-wrapped sachets, presented in beautiful packaging, inspired by the theme of craftsmanship and designed in partnership with internationally renowned London design firm Lewis Moberly.

The tea itself is sourced from the finest 5% of the world’s tea leaves, picked at the height of freshness. At Newby Teas’ specially designed, condition-controlled facility in Kolkata, the tea is preserved, blended and sealed into multi-layer foil sachets, ensuring that the tea arrives at its very best, delivering the freshest taste and aroma in every cup.

Gwen Hustwit, General Manager, Creative & Marketing said:

“At Newby Teas we are fanatical about good quality and dedicated to uncompromising flavour – we are delighted to announce a selection of our teas will be available nationwide in Sainsbury’s, a company that shares our philosophy on quality.

“Newby Teas is a proud member of the Ethical Tea Partnership, a global organisation committed to making tea production better, fairer and more environmentally sustainable.”

Nirmal Sethia, founder of Newby Teas, well-known philanthropist and owner of the world’s largest private collection of tea accessories, the Chitra Collection said:

“I founded Newby Teas with the intention of supplying the finest quality tea in the market, improving the quality of tea across the world. Having the selection available in Sainsbury’s for the first time is an endorsement of our efforts and is a pivotal step towards our mission of reviving the lost art of tea.

Newby Teas is substantially owned by a charitable foundation which extensively supports medical research, education and disaster relief projects.

From the Newby Classic Tea Bag Collection, the eight speciality blends will be available for purchase starting July 30 at Sainsbury’s stores nationwide, priced at £4.45 per box.
