SUCCESSFUL GDPR SEMINAR FOR BFM

The British Furniture Manufacturers (BFM Ltd) is celebrating the success of its one-day General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) seminar.

The event saw more than 50 delegates attend from its membership, the National Bed Federation (NBF) and the Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA).

Hosted by the BFM, the lead speaker was Catherine Herries-Smith, employment law solicitor used by BFM and members, who discussed the new GDPR and the changes it will bring for the industry. Also speaking was Simon Whittaker, senior account executive from Sagar Insurances who explored cyber liability insurance.

Feedback from delegates indicated the information had provided clarity and a greater understanding of the new legal requirements.  In addition, they felt reassured and more confident to deal with the changes and meet their obligations.

Said Jackie Bazeley, BFM md: “We are delighted with the success of our event. It updated people from across the industry on the principles of the new GDPR and what companies will be required to do. It is the biggest change to data protection law for a generation, so it is vital that we keep our members updated so they can prepare for its implementation in May 2018. Our seminars are just one of the many ways in which we provide our members with key up-to-date information.”
